THE Democratic Action Party (DAP) politicians must step up and use their federal power to address Sarawak’s needs by enhancing federal allocations to Sarawak.

Kota Sentosa assemblyman, Wilfred Yap Sau Sin, urged DAP leaders not to pose as opposition heroes while holding federal office.

“The people of Kota Sentosa can see this contradiction clearly. They want sincerity, not political acrobatics,” he said when debating on the Supply (2026) Bill 2025 during the DUN sitting today.

As such, he outlined the pressing needs of Kota Sentosa, including road resurfacing, street lighting, drainage and flood mitigation, waste management upgrades, safer neighbourhoods, support for SMEs and hawkers, and stronger digital connectivity.

“These require funding and consistent work year-round, weekly ground engagement, and coordination with state agencies.

“This budget is not perfect, but it is responsible, steady and focused on real needs. The state government has a proven track record of delivering development, not excuses,” he stressed.

He called on the opposition to stop using Sarawak as a stage for federal political theatre.

“If the opposition wants to be taken seriously by the urban electorate, then they must start taking responsibility for their role in the federal government,” he said.
