KUCHING: A seven-member delegation from the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sarawak (ACCCIS) paid a courtesy call on Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Complex today to gain a clearer understanding of the state’s latest policy directions and economic development priorities.
Led by ACCCIS president Kong Chiong Ung, the delegation included vice presidents Datuk Tan Jit Kee and Datuk Dr Ngu Piew Seng, deputy secretary-general Andy Yek Hock Siang, treasurer Noel Yek Nae Shiuan and council members Fam Khing Foh and Lai Chau Liang.
During the session, Dr Sim briefed the delegation on key initiatives currently under discussion in the Assembly, including the Budget 2026, the introduction of a carbon levy on the oil, gas and energy sectors starting next year and the passage of the Building (Amendment) Bill 2025.
He also highlighted broader policy areas shaping the state’s long-term development, such as education trends, demographic changes and the affordable housing agenda.
Dr Sim emphasized that these policy measures are designed to safeguard the state’s interests, strengthen fiscal autonomy and ensure fair and sustainable resource allocation, positioning it for stable and long-term growth.
“This engagement provides ACCCIS with a comprehensive view of the Legislative Assembly’s priorities and economic direction, which is crucial for businesses planning to contribute to the state’s development,” he said.
