KUCHING: Improved mobility access and effective dissemination of government information are key to enhancing the wellbeing of urban communities in Sarawak, says Tupong assemblyman, Datuk Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman.
He stressed the need for the government to consider implementing the Skim Pembesaran Kampung (SPK) in N6 Tupong, particularly in Matang, to assist residents who face daily mobility challenges.
He also appealed for bus routes to be established along Jalan Matang towards Kampung Matang, as well as from Taman Malihah to Batu Kawa.
“The gazetted health clinic in Batu Kawa, designated for Malihah residents, further highlights the urgency for public transportation, as it would enable the community to access medical care more conveniently without relying solely on private vehicles,”he said.
He said this when debating on the Supply (2026) Bill 2025 during the DUN sitting today.
On traffic management, Fazzrudin expressed appreciation to Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) for the role of traffic wardens in handling congestion during peak hours.
“However, with rapid population growth across housing areas, he believes the current number of wardens is no longer sufficient and urged the government to consider allocating additional resources to DBKU to strengthen the team.
He also emphasised the importance of ensuring that various government initiatives, assistance, and scholarships reach the grassroots.
“The purpose is not merely to highlight government achievements, but to ensure that families are aware of opportunities available to them.
