LIVERPOOL: Liverpool’s crisis worsened as PSV Eindhoven crushed them 4-1 at Anfield, handing the Premier League champions their ninth defeat in 12 matches and their first home Champions League loss in five years.

Ivan Perisic’s early penalty was cancelled out by Dominik Szoboszlai, but a fragile Liverpool collapsed after half-time. Guus Til struck before Couhaib Driouech scored twice, exposing a defence riddled with errors from Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate.

The result leaves Arne Slot under mounting pressure, with the team now 12th in the Premier League and sitting 13th in the Champions League league phase. Fans booed at full-time, many leaving early as empty red seats reflected the mood.

Slot urged resilience despite acknowledging the team’s slump: “We just have to face where we are and fight really hard.”
