KUCHING: Visitors at Medan Niaga Satok had a pleasant surprise on Sunday (Nov 30) as Head of State (TYT) Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar joined the weekend crowd at the 2025 Medan Niaga Satok Carnival.
He was there not only to visit but also to distribute 500 bags of kitchen essentials to visitors.
Wan Junaidi made a stop at the carnival at 10.30am, shortly after his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, concluded her cooking demonstration at the venue.
His arrival was welcomed by Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Project Coordinator for Regional Development Agencies, Kuching North City Hall and Islamic Affairs), Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi’s wife Datin Siti Shorgayah Ahmad Zaidin; Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) director-general Abdul Rashid Bahri; PUSPANITA chairperson Salina Nawi; and FAMA Sarawak director Norsalawaty Abdul Kadir.
As a gesture of support, Wan Junaidi and Fauziah purchased and handed out 500 packs of kitchen essentials, including rice, vegetables and other fresh produce.
After the distribution, they took time to browse the market and purchase household items.
They also posed for photographs with visitors who were eager to capture the moment before their departure.
Wan Junaidi later congratulated FAMA on organising the carnival, noting that it continues to serve as a vital platform for strengthening marketing networks, promoting local products and driving local economic activity.
He expressed hope that the initiative will continue to grow for the benefit of the people and the advancement of Sarawak’s agro-food industry.
