KUCHING: Ongoing implementation of 43 development projects worth RM38 million across Sarawak formed the core of discussions during a courtesy call by Yayasan Hasanah on Premier Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Complex today.

The delegation was led by its chairman, Tan Sri Mohd Nor Yusof, accompanied by trustee, Datuk Amirul Feisal Wan Zahir, and trustee–cum–managing director, Siti Kamariah Ahmad Subki.

Speaking to the media later, Siti Kamariah said the visit was aimed at updating the Premier on current progress of Yayasan Hasanah’s ongoing initiatives under Khazanah Nasional.

“We have 43 projects in Sarawak totalling RM38 million which we are updating, covering education, environment, public spaces, arts, and our study on Sarawak rice, which has very high potential,” she said.

She added that all 43 projects are implemented through collaborations with 39 local non-governmental organisations (NGOs), involving the active participation of Anak Jati Sarawak communities.

Siti Kamariah also briefed the Premier on the Khazanah ACE² Heritage Textile Fellowship, carried out in partnership with the Sarawak Technical Excellence Centre (CENTEXS).

She said participants of the textile fellowship are currently in Türkiye to learn how to promote artisan works from Sarawak, which also have strong potential to enter global markets.

She expressed hope for more collaborations with the Sarawak Government, especially on issues requiring greater attention such as carbon, plastics and sustainable energy in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
