KUCHING: The appointment of Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi as the federal Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP) reflects the Prime Minister’s confidence in his ability to helm two ministries simultaneously.
Abdul Karim, who is the Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak, congratulated Nanta and said his expanded portfolio provides a strategic advantage for the country.
“I believe this appointment will allow him to help even more entrepreneurs across Malaysia.
“Previously, support existed, but it was more focused on bigger industry players. With entrepreneurship under his purview, the reach is now much wider, and the responsibility is greater,” he said when speaking to reporters at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN).
Abdul Karim, who holds two portfolios himself, said the dual appointment clearly reflects the Prime Minister’s trust in Nanta’s capability.
“This shows PMX’s confidence in him; managing two ministries at the same time is no small task. We hope he will achieve even greater success, not only for Sarawak but for Malaysia as a whole,” he added.
He expressed optimism that Nanta, who is also the federal Works Minister, will be able to support and uplift more entrepreneurs under his expanded portfolio.
“We hope that by leading both ministries, he can achieve even greater success, not only for the people of Sarawak but for the whole of Malaysia,” Abdul Karim said.
“As a minister, the responsibility is not for one state alone but for the entire nation, even though we know there are ministers who, once appointed, focus mainly on their own states.”
Nanta’s appointment came after the resignation of former KUSKOP Minister, Datuk Ewon Benedick.
Chief Secretary to the Government, Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, confirmed that Nanta, who is also Kapit Member of Parliament, will begin duties at KUSKOP effective tomorrow, December 3.
