PADAWAN: A 57-year-old woman who was reported missing at Kampung Simpok last Saturday, has been found safe, bringing an end to a three-day search and rescue (SAR) operation.
Aron Rajak was discovered by villagers from Kampung Mundai at around 9.50am Monday in a nearby farm, approximately 2.2km from the search base.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the victim was in stable condition and did not sustain any injuries.
She was immediately brought back to Simpang Lorong 1, Kampung Simpok before being sent to Serian Hospital for further medical asessment.
The discovery followed continued efforts by rescuers from Siburan Fire and Rescue Station, who had resumed operations at 8.30am on the third day of the SAR.
The operation had been initiated after Bomba received an emergency call at 9.16pm on Dec 6, prompting a team from BBP Siburan to be deployed to the village.
The search was officially called off at 11.30am today (Monday) after the victim was safely located and transferred for medical care.
The incident brought relief to the community, who had joined in the search efforts.
