KUCHING: Three Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) projects to fix long-standing drainage and road problems in Kota Sentosa are now underway after letters of award (LoA) were officially handed over to the appointed contractors.

Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap presented the LoAs in a simple ceremony, describing the projects as part of his commitment to tackling community concerns through practical, ground-level solutions.

“These projects come directly from the feedback gathered during my walkabouts, community dialogues and engagements.

“Every complaint, every request, every suggestion brought to me by the people of Sungai Tapang and Kampung Temedak is taken seriously.

“The handover is proof that when the community speaks, I listen and deliver,” he said in a statement following the handover.

The RTP 2024 project to upgrade drainage at Lorong Sungai Tapang 4, costing RM500,000 and awarded to Eastline Synergy Resources, will address recurring flash floods and improve water flow for residents affected by outdated infrastructure.

Another RTP 2024 project, involving a RM100,000 drainage upgrade at Lorong Sungai Tapang 9 awarded to Syarikat Salur Berkat, is expected to strengthen the local drainage network, reduce overflow risks and enhance environmental cleanliness.

Meanwhile, the RTP 2025 road upgrading works at Kampung Temedak in Kuching, costing RM40,000 and undertaken by Faes Enterprise, will improve accessibility and safety for villagers, particularly during the rainy season.

The Padawan Municipal Council (MPP), as the implementing agency, will be responsible for preparing the bill of quantities, defining the scope of work, and supervising all project implementation to ensure efficiency and quality.

Yap thanked MPP for its professionalism and commitment in ensuring that RTP-funded projects are implemented effectively and to standard.

He said the RTP programme continues to play a crucial role in improving essential infrastructure throughout Kota Sentosa, adding that more upgrades are planned in the coming months.
