KUCHING: Sarawak remains living proof of social inclusivity under the leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, says Kota Sentosa state assemblyman, Wilfred Yap Sau Sin.

He said the state’s approach to supporting all faith communities had been demonstrated through consistent policies and real on-the-ground assistance, rather than slogans or symbolic gestures.

“Sarawak continues to show the way. We are living proof, through our actions, that social inclusivity forms the foundation of unity, stability and progress.

“Our government supports all faith communities because no one should be left behind,” he said.

He said this after presenting a RM240,000 Unit For Other Religions (UNIFOR) grant to the Blessed Sacrament Church in BDC here today.

The allocation will fund upgrading works to improve the church’s facilities and ensure a safer and more conducive environment for worshippers.

Yap added that the Premier’s leadership had strengthened religious harmony, community development, and equitable growth across the state.

“Under the Premier’s guidance, Sarawak has nurtured a governance culture rooted in respect, fairness and inclusivity. This is why Sarawak remains peaceful, united and able to progress rapidly,” he said.

Yap said unity remained crucial as Sarawak continues implementing the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, which aims to expand economic growth, improve infrastructure, and ensure shared prosperity.

He stressed that to achieve the goals of PCDS 2030, Sarawak must remain united.

“Only through unity can we continue to develop faster and deliver meaningful improvements to the lives of our people,” he added.

As such, Yap reaffirmed his commitment to working with community leaders, religious organisations, and local stakeholders to ensure development assistance continues to reach all parts of Kota Sentosa constituency and the wider Kuching community.
