KUCHING: The Malaysian Pepper Conference and Expo (MAPEC) 2025 serves as a key platform to ensure the relevance of Malaysia’s pepper industry.

Plantations and Commodity Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad, said MAPEC 2025 acts as an important platform for the entire pepper industry.

“MAPEC 2025 is a strategic and significant platform to further highlight Malaysia’s pepper industry to the community,” she said.

Her speech was read by Deputy Secretary-General (Plantation and Commodities), Datuk Razali Mohamad, at the launch of MAPEC 2025 here today.

She noted that Saraspice Sdn Bhd (SSB), a subsidiary of the Malaysian Pepper Board (MPB), worked together with the James Brooke Bistro to promote Malaysian pepper throughout MAPEC 2025 by featuring pepper-based menus at their establishment.

Razali officiated the opening of MAPEC 2025, which runs from December 18 to 21.

Meanwhile, MPB Chairman, Datuk Anyi Ngau, said the programme also serves several objectives, including empowering the pepper industry both locally and internationally.

He mentioned that MAPEC 2025 was the result of collective efforts.

“MPB alongside the ministry and other agencies in our country worked hard to make sure planned activities related to the industry run smoothly,” he added.

He said that around 500 participants took part, and 60 booths were set up to promote the local pepper industry.

He added that the programme is held annually by MPB under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Plantations and Commodity.

MAPEC 2025 aims to strengthen strategic cooperation and spearhead the nation’s pepper industry transformation towards sustainability and competitiveness, while improving the ecosystem of pepper industry and Malaysian pepper standings in the global market.
