SARATOK: Police arrested a 32-year-old local man in Kabong on Thursday night (Dec 18) on suspicion of drug trafficking.

Saratok district police chief DSP Mathew Manggie said the arrest was made during Op Tapis Khas, carried out by the Saratok IPD Task Force following intelligence and surveillance by Kabong police.

He said the suspect was inspected by the team between 7 pm and midnight, during which a transparent packet containing suspected syabu was found inside a sling bag belonging to the man.

“The suspect was brought to Kabong police station for further action, where a urine screening test returned positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine,” he said in a statement.

DSP Mathew said one packet of suspected syabu weighing about 0.33 gram was seized, adding that preliminary checks showed the suspect had no prior criminal record.

The case was being investigated under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
