PETRONAS and SPECA Sarawak commit to close collaboration

KUCHING: Malaysia Petroleum Management of PETRONAS met with members of the Sarawak Oil and Gas Service Providers Association (SPECA Sarawak) on Monday (29 Dec) to discuss the national oil company’s strategic direction for 2026 and opportunities for local industry players.

The engagement session, held at Hilton Kuching, was led by PETRONAS representatives, Anuar Ismail and Norazibah Md Rabu, alongside SPECA Sarawak members led by Ahmad Sazali.

PETRONAS briefed Sarawak’s oil and gas service providers on its key activities planned for the coming year, while gathering feedback and insights from local stakeholders on industry challenges and opportunities.

For the record, SPECA Sarawak serves as an important representative body for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the state’s oil and gas sector, facilitating dialogue between industry players and major operators on issues affecting long-term growth and sustainability.

Meanwhile, PETRONAS representatives expressed optimism about the Sarawak oil and gas sector’s prospects and called for greater involvement by local SMEs in upcoming projects.

The company emphasised the need for industry players to invest in talent development and build capabilities aligned with the transition towards low-carbon energy solutions.

The session underscored both parties’ commitment to fostering closer collaboration, expanding local content participation, and ensuring the sustainable development of Sarawak’s oil and gas industry.
