Two men and a woman arrested in theft case

MIRI: Police have arrested two local men and a woman in connection with a theft case in Miri, following an operation mounted on information received from the public.

The arrests were carried out by a team from the Miri District Criminal Investigation Department led by Inspector Ardian Sha Ali Rahman.

Two men were detained at the rear car park of Miri City Medical Center Hospital along Jalan Hockien at about 1:00 pm on Thursday.

Further investigation led police to a residential address at Lot 1085, RPR Piasau Phase 2, Piasau Jaya 2A, where a local woman was arrested at around 1:30 pm under Section 27 of the Evidence Act 1950.

Police also seized a Proton Saga bearing registration number JVQ 3096, which had been reported stolen in Batu Niah.

The vehicle is believed to be directly linked to the case and has been taken in as an exhibit to assist investigations under Batu Niah Report No. RPT/01476/25.

All three suspects are currently being held at the Miri Central Police Station lock-up to facilitate further investigation under Section 379A of the Penal Code for theft of a motor vehicle.

Members of the public have been urged to refrain from engaging in crime and to promptly report any suspicious activities or provide information that could assist the police in curbing crime in Miri district.

The police stressed that public cooperation remains a key pillar in safeguarding security and maintaining public order in Miri.
