KUCHING: After seasons of gradual progress, Hope FC are now firmly focused on adding silverware to their cabinet as the club maps out its plans for the 2026 season in the Liga Bandaraya.
Club manager Bryan Cheong said the emphasis moving forward would be on strengthening the squad, refining tactical approaches and improving training methods to further establish the identity the team wants to impose on the pitch.
“We are always looking at ways to improve the club. That includes bringing in new recruits, testing new tactics and training methods, and continuing to build the identity we want for this group of players,” he said.
Cheong told Sarawak Tribune when contacted recently that competing for honours would be a key objective next season.
Hope FC are expected to remain in the Liga Bandaraya, with Cheong stressing that the target is no longer just participation but to translate development and consistency into tangible success. While keeping some plans under wraps, he hinted that the club has several ideas in place as it gauges how the year unfolds.
Beyond league action, Cheong highlighted the club’s commitment to community engagement, citing a holiday football camp held in partnership with Borneo International School in December as part of Hope FC’s efforts to give back and inspire youth participation in the sport.
“Our coaches were excited to be involved. It was an opportunity for them to give back what they have learned and play a role in nurturing the next generation,” he said, while also expressing pride in the players and staff who have contributed to the club’s journey.
The team’s diverse mix of players is bonded by a strong sense of camaraderie, making it clear why Cheong values the privilege of leading them.
