Main suspect arrested in Kota Sentosa cemetery murder

PADAWAN: Police have arrested the main suspect in connection with the fatal incident at a cemetery along Jalan Lumba Kuda, Kota Sentosa, which claimed the life of an elderly man and left his stepson injured.

Padawan police chief Mohd Irwan Hafiz Md Radzi, when contacted, confirmed the arrest of a 50-year-old man yesterday (Jan 4).

“The suspect was picked up at around 5.10 pm in the Kota Samarahan area.

“He is being remanded for seven days to facilitate further investigations,” he said.

The case is being probed under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

Investigations are ongoing, with police continuing efforts to establish the full circumstances surrounding the case.

Previous reports stated that the incident occurred at a Chinese cemetery on Saturday (Jan 3), leaving a 67-year-old cemetery worker dead at the scene while his 34-year-old stepson was injured.

On the same day, at around 4.45 pm, a 28-year-old woman was arrested at a commercial area in Siburan.

She was remanded for three days to assist with investigations.
