LAWAS: Rapid progress is continuing here with the Sarawak government stepping up the implementation of integrated development initiatives focused on strengthening the local economy, improving infrastructure and empowering entrepreneurship among the people.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said among the strategic initiatives being rolled out is the development of several Anjung Usahawan (Entrepreneur Hubs) around here, aimed at providing a more conducive business environment for Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) operators.
He said the Anjung Usahawan Lawas serves as an important platform to empower local entrepreneurs, attract investor interest and create employment opportunities.
“The development of this Anjung Usahawan not only supports local economic growth, but also acts as a catalyst for the integrated development initiatives that are currently being implemented and planned for Lawas,” he said at the opening of the Anjung Usahawan Lawas, held in conjunction with the presentation of entrepreneurial grants and the issuance of offer letters for industrial lots here.
He added that several major infrastructure projects are being actively implemented, including the construction of a new health clinic, which is now nearing completion.
At the event, assistance under several entrepreneurial support initiatives was also presented to local entrepreneurs.
These included the Graduan Ke Arah Keusahawanaan (GERAK) Programme amounting to RM528,949, Usahawan Teknikal dan Vokasional (USTEV) totalling RM94,900, Skim Pinjaman Industri Kecil dan Sederhana (SPIKS) valued at RM300,000, the Sarawak Micro Credit Scheme (SKMS) worth RM4.96 million, as well as the Go Digital Programme amounting to RM70,000, aimed at encouraging business digitalisation.
