LIMBANG: The Rotary Club of Bintulu Central (RCBC) has handed over the HopeCare Water Project to the longhouse community of Rumah Yusop in Tubai Baru here, in an effort to strengthen access to clean water supply in rural areas.

Batu Danau assemblyman Datuk Paulus Palu Gumbang described the high-impact project as a meaningful complement to the government’s ongoing efforts to expand basic infrastructure, particularly in rural and interior regions.

“This project is sponsored by The Malaysian Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Charities) in collaboration with the Limbang Divisional Health Office (PKB Limbang), reflecting effective synergy between non-governmental organisations and government agencies,” he said at the project handover ceremony here yesterday (Jan 17).

Paulus added that the Sarawak government has long-term plans to improve clean water supply systems in stages across areas including Ulu Lubai, Kampung Pengkalan Jawa, Ukong and up to Tanah Merah.

According to him, the implementation is being carried out in phases, with the construction of elevated water storage tanks currently underway by appointed contractors to ensure a more efficient and sustainable water distribution system, in line with the geographical challenges of the area.
