KOTA SAMARAHAN: The Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) has stepped up enforcement action with an operation targeting abandoned vehicles in the commercial area of Taman Desa Ilmu here.
In a statement, MPKS said its Enforcement Division carried out the operation on Monday (Jan 19) after a seven-day warning notice period issued to vehicle owners had expired, with no action taken by those involved.
It said the presence of abandoned vehicles not only affected the image of the township but also disrupted the use of public parking spaces.
Following the lapse of the notice period, enforcement officers proceeded with the seizure and towing of vehicles that failed to comply with earlier directives.
All seized vehicles were transported to the MPKS office compound for record-keeping and further inspection in accordance with existing legal provisions.
MPKS said similar operations would continue from time to time as part of ongoing efforts to ensure public spaces remained clean, safe and orderly, while allowing parking facilities to be fully utilised by the public.
The council also urged the public to remain aware of and comply with local regulations, and to cooperate with the local authority in maintaining cleanliness, safety and the overall image of the Kota Samarahan municipal area.
