SARIKEI: All Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) projects in Meradong focusing on the education sector will be monitored regularly to ensure timely completion and deliver direct benefits to the community.
Meradong assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing noted that educational institutions require special attention through small-scale development programmes like RTP to ensure a safe, comfortable, and conducive learning environment for students.
“Continuous monitoring will ensure that RTP projects are not only completed on schedule but also have a real impact on school communities and local residents.”
He said this after an initial site inspection of an RTP project involving the rewiring of SJKC Yong Cheng here on Monday (Jan 19).
The working site visit aimed to assess the technical requirements and scope of the proposed project, which is estimated to cost RM50,000, to replace the school’s old wiring system in classrooms.
Ding added that this project is among the development initiatives under the Meradong RTP allocation, directly impacting the welfare of school communities and local residents.
According to preliminary information, the existing wiring system had been in use for a long period and required replacement to reduce safety risks and improve learning comfort.
The scope of work includes installing new wiring, lights, and fans to ensure that basic electrical needs are safe, functional, and compliant with current technical specifications.
Meanwhile, the school welcomed the project’s implementation, as it adds value to the school’s infrastructure and helps address growing facility maintenance issues.
Also present were Sarikei Resident representative Sing Ming Shyang, Meradong District Office representative Ting Kai Siang, and JKR Sarikei assistant engineer Harith, who represents the project implementing agency.
