BELAWAI: The RM8-million ‘Anjung Usahawan Belawai’ project is expected to be fully completed by the end of March 2027, providing new economic opportunities for local entrepreneurs.
Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment, Datuk Len Talif Salleh, said the project formed part of a broader development agenda to ensure rural areas, particularly Belawai, were not left out of the state’s development trajectory.
He said the ‘Anjung Usahawan Belawai’ project aimed to improve the economic prospects of about 5,500 local residents, while laying a foundation for Belawai’s longer-term potential as a new township.
“The project will not only provide organised infrastructure, but also create opportunities for local residents to own and operate 14 commercial units at affordable rental rates, as the infrastructure costs are fully borne by the government.”
Len Talif, who is also Kuala Rajang state assemblyman, added that the initiative was aligned with the Sarawak government’s aspiration to develop a competitive, sustainable and resilient Bumiputera entrepreneurial community, while driving economic growth and broader social benefits for the Kuala Rajang area and Sarawak as a whole.
The ‘Anjung Usahawan Belawai’ project, funded under the Rajang Delta Development Agency (RADDA), has now officially entered the construction phase.
The Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA), as the implementing agency, has handed over the project site to the main contractor, Kyo Sinar Sdn Bhd, allowing construction works to proceed according to the approved schedule.
