SIBU: Nam Cheong Limited (Nam Cheong), an offshore support vessel (OSV) player with deep roots in Sarawak, has again reached out to rural students.
For the second year running, the company has donated school uniforms, shoes and socks, school bags, stationery, and exercise books to 49 students from Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kuala Baram 1.
The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) outreach programme for 2026 was meant to ease the burden on students’ families at the start of the new school year.

Speaking at the donation ceremony, Nam Cheong’s Executive Director of Operations, Joseph Tiong emphasised the meaningful connection between the company and the Kuala Baram community.
“Kuala Baram is very close to our hearts. Since the early 1960s, our dockyard and operations have grown together with the people of this community. Many of our leaders, staff and crew come from Kuala Baram, and our success has been built on their hard work, loyalty and committment.
“This CSR programme is our way of giving back to the community that has helped shape Nam Cheong,” he stated.
He also extended his appreciation to the school’s teachers and parents, thanking them for shaping the children with patience, care, encouragement and belief in them.
“At Nam Cheong, we believe giving back is not a one-time effort – it is a responsibility. Strong communities build strong futures.
“Through its CSR programme, Nam Cheong aims to continue supporting education initiatives and local communities in Sarawak, strengthening its role as a company that grows with the people and shares its progress through meaningful contributions,” added Tiong.
