KUCHING: The Public Works Department (PWD) Sarawak is continuing to strengthen project governance through the implementation of its One Month Pledge initiative aimed at improving project delivery and reducing delays.
PWD Sarawak said the initiative is designed to ensure contractors demonstrate early commitment towards achieving project targets within the first month of implementation while enhancing overall project governance.
It said the department would closely monitor the implementation of the pledges signed by contractors to ensure projects are carried out according to established plans.
“The implementation of the One Month Pledge reflects PWD Sarawak’s ongoing commitment to improving project delivery efficiency, reducing the risk of delays, and ensuring that development benefits can be enjoyed by the people of Sarawak,” it said in a Facebook post today (June 23).
The statement was issued following the One Month Pledge Signing Session No. 7/2026 held at the Directorate Meeting Room, Level 19, Wisma Saberkas.
Among the projects covered during the session were the completion of remaining reconstruction and upgrading works under Dilapidated School Package 6 at Sekolah Kebangsaan Kampung Penibong in Daro, Mukah, and the construction of an additional building at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Sungai Maong.
The session also involved reconstruction works at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Matang Hilir and Sekolah Kebangsaan Bukit Kinyau under the Sarawak Dilapidated Schools Programme 2023.
Other projects included the construction of a KEMAS kindergarten at Kampung Sungai Tapang, Stampin, as well as the retendered construction of new land border security control posts for the Sarawak Brigade of the General Operations Force (PGA) at Sapit, Padawan and Tepoi, Serian.
