BAU: A motorcyclist has been arrested after a viral video captured him and two others performing dangerous ‘Superman’ stunts along Jalan Bau-Batu Kawa.
The arrest came after the Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department launched an investigation into the video, which showed the three riders engaging in dangerous riding on the public road.
Acting on the video, the Bau traffic police quickly identified those involved.
“One of them has been arrested for further action. Checks also found that the suspect did not possess a driving licence,” the department said.
Police have since identified the other two riders and are taking steps to track them down.
The department also issued a stern warning to riders against treating dangerous road stunts as entertainment or a way to gain attention on social media.
“What is considered ‘content’ today can become evidence for legal action tomorrow.
“The road is not your racetrack. You are not a racer and stunts like ‘Superman’ do not make anyone great,” the department said.
Riders are also cautioned against risking their own lives and those of other road users for the sake of a few seconds of attention.
Police said they will not compromise with any individual found involved in road bullying or dangerous riding.
