KOTA SAMARAHAN: Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Sarawak continues to strengthen women’s leadership and intellectual culture through the organisation of the Program Siri Telaah: Pawana Ingatan themed ‘Menakluk Puncak Dunia: Sentuhan Srikandi’ event at the Tun Abdul Razak Library (PTAR), Samarahan Campus 2.
Rector Prof. Dr Firdaus Abdullah said the programme serves as an important intellectual discourse platform to examine contemporary issues and discuss inspirational works by national figures.
“I hope that the Siri Telaah will continue to grow as a campus intellectual brand that bridges ideas across generations,” he said on Wednesday (Jan 21).
The programme featured prominent national women leader, Datuk Ts Dr Roziah Mohd Janor, the first female vice-chancellor of Malaysia’s largest public university, who shared insights into her leadership journey, strategic thinking and key messages from her writings that emphasise integrity and resilience among women leaders.
The initiative aims to promote a culture of knowledge while inspiring leadership among members of the university and women in the wider Sarawak community.
The programme was jointly organised by PTAR as the main organiser, in collaboration with the UiTM Sarawak Women’s Association (PEWANI) and the UiTM Sarawak Student Representative Council (MPP).
In addition to the campus community, the programme attracted participation from women’s associations and non-governmental organisations around Kuching and Kota Samarahan, including the Unimas Women Association (MASNITA), Dayak Bidayuh National Association, Malaysian Armed Forces Family Welfare Body (BAKAT), Purplelily Social Organisation Kuching, Pan Pacific and South East Asia Women’s Association (PPSEAWA) Sarawak, UiTM Sarawak Retirees Association (PERASA) and the Kampung Empila Village Development and Security Committee (JKK).
The strong turnout reflected the spirit of collaboration between universities and the community in advancing women’s intellectual and leadership development in Sarawak.
