KUCHING: A total of 18 summonses were issued for various traffic offences during a road hooligan enforcement operation carried out by the police here last night (Jan 23).
The operation, conducted by the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department of the Kuching district police, ran from 10pm until 5am along Jalan Setia Raja and Jalan Central Timur.
Kuching police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the operation targeted illegal street racing activities and dangerous motorcycle modifications.
“A total of 25 vehicles and 37 individuals were inspected during the operation.
“Offences detected included modified exhaust systems, non-compliant and fancy number plates, as well as the use of mobile phones while driving,” he said in a statement.
He added that integrated enforcement operations would continue to ensure road users comply with traffic laws and to curb unsafe behaviour on the roads.
