SIBU: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) President, Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, reminded all party members and machinery to continue serving the people at all times, and not merely during election periods.

He said the opening of the new SUPP Dudong Branch Office in Jalan Aman here on Sunday (Jan 25) symbolised more than a move to larger and more comfortable premises but also reflected the party’s commitment to strengthening grassroots services.

“This office is a service centre for the people. We do not serve only during elections, but at all times. This is the true spirit of SUPP’s struggle since its establishment in 1959,” he said at the opening event.

According to Dr Sim, who is also the Deputy Premier, SUPP remains relevant today because it has consistently prioritised the interests of the people, despite facing various challenges and political ups and downs throughout its three generations of struggle.

He stressed that Sarawak’s wealth should not be a source of pride alone, but must be harnessed to accelerate development for the well-being of the people, particularly in the areas of education, the economy and healthcare.

“Sarawak is respected today not merely because of its wealth, but because our actions have become an example to other states. This is the result of the collective efforts of all government component parties,” he said.

Dr Sim also urged SUPP members to remain united and uphold political stability to ensure the continuity of Sarawak’s development, especially over the next five years, which he described as critical.

“Once we have stood strong, we must remain stable. Only with stability can we achieve Sarawak Vision 2030,” he added.

He further congratulated the SUPP Dudong leadership and its entire team for their continuous efforts in strengthening services to the local community.

At the same event, Dr Sim, who is also the Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government, presented tokens of appreciation to veteran SUPP Dudong members in recognition of their long-standing service to the party.
