KAPIT: The RM1.92 million Kebiau Hall in Song has officially opened, providing the local community with a modern, comfortable, and inclusive multipurpose space for a variety of activities.
It was officially inaugurated on Sunday during a ceremony officiated by Minister of Works and Kapit MP, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.
“Kebiau Hall is more than just a gathering place, it is a symbol of the progress and unity of the Song community.
“This hall provides comfortable, modern, and inclusive multipurpose facilities for various community activities,” he said.
The project was fully completed on May 13, 2024 and carried out by the Public Works Department (PWD), in collaboration with PWD Kapit Division and the Kapit District Council.
During the event, Nanta also presented certificates of appointment to three new village chiefs and 43 community heads (Tuai Rumah), as well as appreciation certificates to three retiring village chiefs.
Additionally, a symbolic handover of inland fisheries equipment under the Socio-Economic Community @ SCORE RECODA programme by the Upper Rajang Development Agency (URDA) also took place, benefiting nine inland fisheries participants in the Song District.
This handover followed the positive reception of the inland fisheries programme among the local community, particularly in freshwater fish cultivation (ikan lik mudik).
The provision of this equipment aims to increase household income and support the sustainability of the inland fisheries industry.
