BINTULU: Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad (BPHB) continues to strengthen its commitment to the welfare of the local community by contributing food baskets under its Bintulu Port Cares Programme.
The programme, under the Bintulu Port Foundation, was held in conjunction with the 2026 Chinese New Year (CNY) celebrations, as part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
BPHB’s general manager of Group Stakeholder Relations Maslihah Tioh said the programme is not only aimed at easing the burden of those in need during the festive season but also reflects the company’s ongoing efforts to foster harmony among Bintulu’s multi-ethnic and multi-religious community.
She said the initiative serves as a gesture of appreciation from BPHB to the local community, particularly the Chinese community, ahead of the upcoming CNY celebrations.
“Through this programme, we hope that the food baskets, modest as they may be, will assist recipients in preparing for CNY in a more meaningful way,” the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS) quoted her as saying.
Maslihah made the remarks during a hi-tea ceremony following the symbolic handover of the food baskets at Si Thian Hock Teck Wang Hock Shu Moo Temple (Kuan Yin Tong) here on Tuesday (Jan 27).
She also highlighted that BPHB’s CSR approach is implemented inclusively, taking into account cultural and religious diversity, in line with efforts to strengthen community unity and togetherness.
“Throughout the year, BPHB conducts various CSR programmes in conjunction with major celebrations such as Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Gawai Dayak, and Christmas. The selection of places of worship as programme locations is carried out on a rotational basis,” she said.
Maslihah added that BPHB remains committed to translating its care for the community into high-impact programmes that provide direct benefits to target groups and contribute to social welfare in Bintulu.
