SEMATAN: RM30 million in additional funding has been approved to continue the Sematan riverfront project, extending development along the town’s coastal area and boosting local tourism.
Tanjong Datu state assemblyman, Azizul Annuar Adenan, said the allocation will be used to extend the existing riverfront walkway to the Normah Seafood Family area in Tanah Hitam I.
“The project also includes the construction of a new jetty, which is expected to enhance the socio-economic status of the local community as well as further boost the tourism sector in the coastal area of Sematan,” he added.
Azizul said this during the opening of the Sematan food stalls and riverfront project today.

Earlier, Lundu District Council Secretary, Norashikin Brahim, said 19 units of Sematan food stalls had been upgraded with federal government funding amounting to RM926,030.
She added that the upgrading of the Sematan riverfront project, funded by the state government with an allocation of RM849,980, aligns with the aspirations of the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.
She also expressed appreciation to Azizul for his continued leadership in driving district development, and thanked the contractors and the Lundu District Council team for completing the project according to schedule and set standards.
