KUCHING: Sarawak is taking decisive steps to boost graduate employment outcomes through a new partnership with the Social Security Organisation (PERKESO), said the Education, Innovation and Talent Development Minister, Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn.
Speaking at the closing of the Asia Pacific Aerospace Conference and Exhibition (APACE) 2026 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) today, Sagah said the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PERKESO aims to integrate talent development and social security into a responsive framework to ensure graduates are employment ready.
“This partnership is engineered for action, to ensure that our young talent has the support and opportunities to thrive in the workforce,” he said.
The minister highlighted that the MoU is part of a wider strategy where Sarawak moves “from dialogue to deed”, turning agreements into tangible results.
Other partnerships include:
Agriculture workforce development: Through Sarawak Skills, the state is collaborating with the Muda Agricultural Development Authority (MADA) to prepare a skilled workforce for the development of 14,000 hectares of agricultural land by 2030. Workers will be trained, certified and deployment-ready within 24 months.
Strategic national collaborations: Sarawak’s Ministry works with TalentCorp Malaysia, Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC), and the Department of Education Malaysia to strengthen the state’s talent pipeline. Membership in Majlis Pembangunan Kemahiran Malaysia (MPK) and Majlis Pertandingan Kemahiran Malaysia (MPKM) allows access to policy planning for talent development.
Skills showcase: Since 2017, Sarawak’s partnership with the Department of Skills Development through WorldSkills Malaysia Sarawak has consistently demonstrated that Sarawakian talent can compete and excel on global stages.
Sagah also called on investors and partners to engage with Sarawak’s agencies and explore the state’s special economic zones.
He said the state now offers a future-proofed talent pool, a data-driven economic vision, and an investor-centric government, making it an ideal partner for collaboration in multiple sectors.
“Look beyond the presentations. See the momentum. Bring us your challenges and let us co-create the solutions,” he said.
Present at the event were Deputy Minister, Datuk Francis Harden Hollis; permanent secretary to the ministry, Datuk Adana Jed; and other distinguished guests.
