SIBUJAYA: A small liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) explosion damaged a house at Lorong 20F here this afternoon, causing part of the ceiling to collapse and injuring an elderly man.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the incident occurred at about 3.31 pm, with firefighters from the Sibujaya station arriving at the scene shortly after.

“The explosion caused the ceiling of the house to cave in, injuring an elderly male occupant, who was rushed to hospital by members of the public before firefighters arrived,” it said in a statement.

Part of the ceiling collapsed following the small LPG gas explosion.

A total of five people were in the house at the time – two adults, two elderly occupants and a teenage boy.

Firefighters later conducted a safety inspection of the premises and removed the LPG cylinder to prevent further risk.

The situation was brought under control by 3.40 pm, and operations concluded at about 4.02 pm once the area was declared safe.
