BAU: Police arrested eight men suspected of drug abuse during ‘Ops Tapis’ carried out at Kampung Bogag and Kampung Serikin here on Friday (Jan 30).
Bau District Police Chief Supt Mohd Haide A. Rahman said the operation, conducted between 5.00 am and 10.00 am by the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division (NCID) with assistance from district police personnel, led to the detention of eight local men.
He said one of the suspects was found in possession of eight plastic packets containing crystalline substances believed to be syabu, weighing about 5.45 grammes, and was investigated under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
“Meanwhile, three other suspects were found with four packets of suspected syabu weighing about 2.05 grammes and are being investigated under Section 12(2) of the same Act,” he said in a statement.
Initial urine screening tests conducted on all eight suspects showed positive results for drug use, and they were further investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Haide said police would not compromise with any form of drug abuse and urged the public to provide information to assist enforcement efforts.
