KUCHING: The Sarawak Broadcasting Department (RTM) through REDfm is set to present Spring Gala Star 2.0, a special Chinese New Year programme celebrating the vibrant cultural heritage and artistic diversity of Sarawak’s communities.

Building on the success of the inaugural Chinese New Year Gala Show in 2020, this year’s event promises an exciting blend of traditional and contemporary entertainment, featuring lion dances, performances by local artistes and celebrated vocalists.

The programme, which marks the Chinese New Year 2026 festivities, has been developed in partnership with regional stations MIRIfm, SIBUfm and SRI AMANfm, extending its reach across Sarawak.

REDfm Manager, Uji Morni, emphasised that Spring Gala Star 2.0 serves a dual purpose beyond mere celebration.

“This programme not only honours the Chinese New Year traditions but also strengthens community bonds and promotes national unity, which aligns with RTM’s core broadcasting mission,” she said in a press release issued by RTM on Saturday.

The event has garnered significant support, including backing from Kota Sentosa state assemblyman, Wilfred Yap Yau Sin, and sponsorship from AEON Mall.

RTM Sarawak remains optimistic that the Spring Gala Star 2.0 will broaden its audience engagement whilst enriching Sarawak’s multicultural landscape, making the Chinese New Year celebrations accessible and enjoyable for all communities throughout the state.

The programme demonstrates RTM’s continued commitment to promoting cultural diversity and fostering social cohesion through quality broadcasting.
