KUCHING: The construction of the new SK Pulo at Darul Hana, Block 4 has reached 95 per cent completion and is expected to be fully completed by the end of April this year (2026).
Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Coordinator for Regional Development Agencies, Kuching North City Commission and Islamic Affairs) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said the RM43.55 million education project is now in its final phase of implementation.
He said the project, which commenced on Feb 1, 2023, involves the construction of a four-storey main school block, a preschool building, a hall and a school canteen.
Most of the key facilities are almost fully completed, reflecting steady progress on the ground, he said when during a site visit to the project on Tuesday (Feb 3).
The new school is equipped with facilities friendly to Persons with Disabilities (PWD), including dedicated access routes, ramps, PWD-friendly toilets and lift facilities to ensure safe and comfortable movement for students, teachers and visitors with special needs at all levels of the building.
Additional supporting facilities such as an assembly square, covered walkways, visitor waiting areas and community-friendly recreational spaces have also been provided to create a conducive and inclusive learning environment.
In terms of capacity, the new SK Pulo will house 30 primary classrooms, an increase from the previous 24, raising student capacity from 680 to 900 pupils.
For the preschool section, the number of classrooms has been increased from two to three, with enrolment capacity rising from 50 to 75 pupils.
The expansion is expected to ease classroom congestion and provide a safer, more comfortable and higher-quality learning environment, particularly for students with special needs.
