SARATOK: Police seized two modified motorcycles and issued 56 summonses during traffic enforcement operations carried out in the district today.

The operations were conducted between 10.00 am and 1.00 pm, covering Saratok town, the Pan Borneo Highway and Kabong town.

Saratok Police Chief, DSP Mathew Manggie, said the motorcycles were seized after being found to have been modified in a manner that could endanger riders and other road users.

Of the total summonses issued, 21 involved passenger cars, followed by 15 motorcycles, 12 four-wheel-drive vehicles and eight lorries.

He said the most common offence detected involved motorists entering prohibited or ‘no entry’ lanes, while motorcycle offences included riding without helmets and illegal modifications.

Mathew said the operations were part of ongoing enforcement efforts carried out over six days from Feb 2 to Feb 6 to promote compliance with traffic laws, adding that similar operations would continue.
