KAPIT: A man was arrested for suspected involvement in drug-related activities during a police operation at Jalan Puan Sri Tiong here on Wednesday.

Kapit district police, in a statement, said the suspect was picked up by a team from the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division (NCID) here.

The district police said an inspection on the suspect led to the discovery of a small transparent glass jar containing crystal lumps believed to be syabu.

“A preliminary urine screening test also found the suspect positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine,” it said.

The case is being investigated under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act.

Meanwhile, Kapit police stressed that they take drug offences seriously and will not compromise on such crimes.

Members of the public are also urged to channel information to the police if they have any knowledge of drug-related activities in Kapit.
