KUCHING: The Natural Resources and Environment Board (NREB) Sarawak celebrated its 32nd anniversary with a ceremony that saw staff members renewing their commitment to integrity and excellence in environmental stewardship.

Sarawak Environmental Quality Controller Datuk Jack Liam addressed staff from NREB headquarters and regional offices across all divisions of Sarawak at the ceremony held in the lobby of Menara Pelita here on Friday.

The event featured a collective recitation of the Corporate Integrity Pledge, with attendees also renewing their signatures on the Integrity Pledge and Integrity Pact, reinforcing the organisation’s dedication to ethical work practices.

In his address, Jack emphasised the critical importance of embodying the core values of the Sarawak State Civil Service (PANS) in daily operations.

The Controller outlined the agency’s forward-looking NREB Strategic Plan 2025-2030, which will serve as a blueprint for action over the coming years.

He revealed that several new initiatives approved during the Senior Management Meeting have been incorporated into the 2026 Annual Plan.

A significant development announced was the adoption of the SCS Scorecard system to measure organisational performance.

The agency has also established key performance indicators (KPIs) aimed at driving transformation, fostering innovation and enhancing agency recognition.

Staff were briefed on the comprehensive programme planning for 2026, which promises a year of intensified environmental protection efforts across the state.

The ceremony concluded with a symbolic cake-cutting session, commemorating more than three decades of NREB’s achievements in fulfilling its environmental mandate.
