KOTA SAMARAHAN: The commitment to continue assisting the people regardless of race and religion remains a priority in ensuring harmony and shared prosperity in Sarawak, said Stakan state assemblyman, Datuk Hamzah Brahim.
He said such efforts would be continuously strengthened, especially in supporting those in need during festive seasons.
“Our commitment to help the people will continue to be reinforced without regard to race or religion. This is in line with the spirit of unity that forms the foundation of harmony in Sarawak,” he said when officiating the 2026 Chinese New Year Mandarin Oranges and Angpow Distribution programme for the Stakan constituency at Dewan Masyarakat Jalan Muara Tuang here on Sunday.
A total of 210 recipients from several areas around the constituency received contributions during the welfare programme, which has become an annual initiative.
Hamzah said organising such programmes reflects the leadership’s concern for the community, particularly in easing the burden of the less fortunate ahead of the Chinese New Year celebration.
“This programme has become an annual event as a manifestation of our concern for the community, especially in helping those in need as they prepare to celebrate Chinese New Year,” he added.
The programme involved the distribution of angpow contributions amounting to RM10,500 to recipients from the Jalan Muara Tuang Kuching Community Association, Kampung Sungai Jernang, Kampung Stakan Cina Hilir, Kampung Stakan Cina Hulu, Kampung Kuap Cina Batu 14, as well as the Unigarden and Unicentral residential areas.
