Head of State continues house visits on Chinese New Year’s second day

KUCHING: Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, continued their Chinese New Year visit on its second day today.

The couple, accompanied by Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental Sustainability, Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni, first visited Head of the Innovation Division at the Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Dr Cheong Yaw Liang, at his residence here.

Arriving at around 10 am, Wan Junaidi and Fauziah were warmly received by Cheong and his wife, Ekaterina Kolushkina, along with their family members.

The welcoming atmosphere was further enlivened by a lively lion dance performance and the sound of firecrackers.

During the visit, the Head of State and his wife spent time mingling with Cheong’s family in a cordial and festive setting, exchanging greetings and well wishes in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration.

The couple left the residence at 11.48 am and proceeded to their second visit of the day – to the home of Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor, Datuk Wee Hong Seng.

Upon arriving at around 12 pm, Wan Junaidi and Fauziah were welcomed by Wee and his family, as well as several MBKS staff members.

They also took time to interact with Wee and his family members, sharing light moments and extending festive greetings as part of the celebration.

The couple departed Wee’s residence at 1 pm, marking the conclusion of their two-day Chinese New Year visit.
