Man jailed six months for keeping stolen motorcycle

KUCHING: A 31-year-old man was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment by the Magistrates’ Court here today for keeping a stolen motorcycle belonging to a 48-year-old man.

Mohd Shafiq Affendi pleaded guilty to the charge read before Magistrate Nursyaheeqa Nazwa Radzali.

He was charged under Section 411 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of seven years’ jail, a fine, or both.

Charge sheet then stated that the offence occurred by the roadside along Jalan Resak at about 9.30 am on Feb 17.

Meanwhile, the facts of the case revealed that the complainant had discovered her father’s motorcycle missing from a parking area along Jalan Song on Dec 31, 2025.

During ‘Ops Lejang’ operations on Feb 17, police detained a man riding a suspicious motorcycle along Jalan Resak.

Investigations confirmed that the Yamaha motorcycle belonged to the victim based on its registered engine and chassis numbers.

The case was prosecuted by Deputy Public Prosecutor, Ahmad Fauzulutfi Suriani, while the Shafiq did not have legal representation.
