Search dog Bella joins SAR efforts to locate boy feared drown

KUCHING: Search dog Bella joined the second day of search and rescue (SAR) operations today to locate a 16-year-old boy feared drowned at Kampung Kolong Sungai Tengah here.

The victim, identified as Fahrell Zaquan Hasbullah, was reported missing on Friday (Feb 20) after he was believed to have fallen into the river at about 4pm and swept away by strong currents.

According to information from the victim’s friend, the teen was playing near the riverbank before he fell into the water and was carried away by the current.

Search efforts involved boat patrols, surface water searches covering a radius of up to five kilometres downstream, and shoreline sweeps.

No diving operations were conducted due to strong river currents.

As of press time, the victim has yet to be found and the SAR operations are ongoing.
