ENGKILILI: The search and rescue (SAR) operations to locate missing 84-year-old Igoh Sengaling entered its second day today (Feb 21), with teams combing up to six kilometres along Ulu Sungai Skrang.
Igoh was last seen on Feb 18 at about 7 am after leaving his longhouse at Rumah Richard Tawan, Tebarong, Lubok Skrang, by boat to Skim Skrang Clinic to collect medication.
He failed to return home, prompting family members and villagers to conduct initial searches before a police report was lodged on Friday (Feb 19) at about 7.51 pm.
The second day of the SAR saw seven personnel from Betong Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) resumed operations, dividing into two groups and expanding the search radius to about five kilometres from where the victim’s boat was discovered.
Search teams navigated upstream towards Entalun, covering roughly four kilometres, before continuing further into Ulu Sungai Skrang using three boats, extending the search to approximately six kilometres.
The operations involved police, Civil Defence Force (APM), RELA and villagers.
The SAR was suspended at 5 pm and will resume the following day.
As of press time, the victim remains missing.
