LAWAS: A two-day immigration crackdown in the district led to the detention of 14 foreign nationals suspected of breaching immigration laws.
The Sarawak Immigration Department conducted the operation from Feb 21 to 22 at several rented houses and business premises identified through intelligence and public information.
Those detained were held for offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63, including not possessing valid travel documents and overstaying.
All were brought to the Lawas Immigration Office for further investigation and action in accordance with the law.
The department said enforcement operations would continue from time to time and reminded employers and property owners to ensure foreign nationals under their supervision possess valid documentation.
