BAU: Two men were sentenced to 12 months’ jail by the Magistrate’s Court here on Monday (Feb 23) after failing to pay fines imposed for mischief involving public property.
Bau police chief DSP Mohd Haide A. Rahman said the case was prosecuted under Section 427 of the Penal Code.
Both accused were fined RM3,000 each.
“Both accused failed to pay the fine and were sentenced to 12 months in prison,” Mohd Haide said in a statement.
In a separate case under Section 379A of the Penal Code for theft of a motor vehicle, one accused was sentenced to 15 months in jail.
The sentence took effect from Dec 22, 2025, the date of remand.
Another accused failed to appear in court and a warrant of arrest has been extended until March 26, 2026.
Mohd Haide said Bau police remained committed to ensuring all criminal cases were brought before the courts and investigated professionally.
He also advised the public to comply with the law and channel information on criminal activities to the police to assist in crime prevention efforts.
