MUKAH: Police have arrested a local man suspected of possessing drugs during an operation along Jalan Mukah–Selangau here yesterday (Feb 23).
Mukah police chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias said the suspect was detained while inside a vehicle parked in front of an unnumbered vacant house.
A search led to the discovery of a transparent straw containing crystalline substances believed to be methamphetamine, weighing about 0.15 grams.
“The seized items were taken as case exhibits and the suspect, aged 32, was brought to the Mukah district police headquarters for further action,” he said in a statement.
Urine screening tests returned positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.
The case is being investigated under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
The suspect, who works as a labourer, has been remanded for three days until Feb 27 to assist investigations under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
