SAMARAHAN: OpenMove AI Berhad is exploring potential collaboration with the Sarawak government to develop a digital transformation platform aimed at strengthening the state’s trade and port ecosystem.
Its chairman, Tengku Tan Sri Datuk Mohamad Rizam Tengku Abdul Aziz said the company has held preliminary discussions with several state agencies and is also engaging relevant parties on the digital transformation initiative during his first visit to Sarawak.
“We see Sarawak as being quite advanced in terms of digital transformation, and this opens up opportunities for local companies like ours to share our expertise and offer the best solutions.
“And Open Move AI Berhad is listed on the ACE Market of Bursa Malaysia, and through its subsidiary, MoveNet Malaysia Sdn Bhd, it is a technology company that focuses on digital solutions, particularly in logistics and the port ecosystem,” he said.
He said this during a media conference after an Iftar ceremony with OpenMove AI Berhad at the Tafaqquh dan Tahfidz Al-Makki Institute here Monday (Feb 23).
He added that the company is proud that this effort is locally developed in Malaysia, without relying on foreign parties.
“It is something we built ourselves, and we are also focusing on becoming a regional player in trade infrastructure within the ASEAN region,” he added.
Mohamad Rizam said that MoveNet already has a proof of concept (POC) for the digital solutions it has developed, demonstrating that it is not merely a proposal on paper.
“If the collaboration is realised, it is expected to greatly benefit the port community, as many current activities are still conducted manually.
“The digitalisation of processes, particularly within the port community, could reduce reliance on manual methods, thereby saving costs and time while improving trade chain efficiency.
“With the expected growth in Sarawak over the next five years, trade activities will increase, and these processes need to be accelerated and made more cost-efficient,” he said.
However, he stressed that discussions are still at an early stage, and any form of agreement or memorandum of understanding (MoU) will only be announced once finalised.
In conjunction with the Iftar, Open Move AI contributed RM15,000 to the institute and distributed duit raya to students, including 32 tahfiz students from across Sarawak and 23 orphans from the Samarahan area.
“Our company regularly carries out corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes.
“We were informed about the efforts of this institute and were impressed by their initiatives and management. We felt this was the best way to contribute, especially during the blessed month of Ramadan.
“My hope for the students here is that you study hard and focus on your studies,” he said.
