BAU: Nine individuals pleaded guilty to charges under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 during the Magistrates’ Court Circuit sitting here on Feb 23 and 24.
Bau police chief DSP Mohd Haide A. Rahman said the accused were fined between RM2,900 and RM7,800 each.
The nine individuals pleaded guilty to the charges read in front of Magistrate Ling Hui Chuan.
“In default of payment, they face imprisonment ranging from six to 13 months.
“Some of the individuals were charged with two offences under the same section,” he said in a statement.
The court session, held in the fourth week of the month, heard cases under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
In total, 35 investigation papers were brought before the court. Meanwhile, 26 individuals were charged under Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act.
They were fined between RM1,000 and RM4,000, in default six to 12 months. The court also imposed an additional supervision order of three years. Some of the accused faced three charges under the same provision.
