BINTULU: A vacant double-storey terrace house was about 70 per cent destroyed in a fire at Kidurong Hill early this morning.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said it received a distress call at 3.55am and personnel from the Kidurong station arrived at the scene at 4am.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the upper floor of the permanent-structure house engulfed in flames.
Operations commander PBK I Abdullah Sedi directed personnel to break in through the rear door to gain access to the upper floor.
Firefighters deployed a 200-foot hose line and a hose reel with two nozzles, drawing water from the fire engine pump and a nearby hydrant.
The fire was brought under control at 4.33am and extinguished at 6.13am.
No injuries were reported as the house was unoccupied at the time of the incident.
