KUCHING: A man and his girlfriend were arrested at a house in Jalan Green on Feb 28 for alleged involvement in a motorcycle theft case in the city.
Kuching police chief ACP Alexson Naga Anak Chabu said the suspects, aged 32 and 33, were detained at about 2.30pm under Ops Lejang Khas.
He said the man was linked to the motorcycle theft, while police identified the woman as his girlfriend.
“Police also seized a blue Yamaha Avantis motorcycle bearing a false registration number.
“Both suspects were found to have several prior criminal records and tested positive for drugs following urine screening,” he said in a statement.
The case is being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of between one and seven years, and may also include a fine.
Alexson advised the public not to be involved in criminal activities and urged those with information to contact the IPD Kuching control centre at 082-244444.
